Who's driving who nuts?

When Joey starts to bug me, I tell her that she's driving me nuts. Apparently I do it a lot and/or kids pick up on things quickly. Today we are running to a few places around town getting some things done. Joey starts telling me she's hungry. I tell her that's too bad, she should have eaten lunch when we gave it to her and if she really wants, when we get home she could have some string cheese. "I don't want string cheese!" she says. "I want 3 cookies!" "No," I tell her "it's string cheese, or nothing until dinner". After finding myself arguing with a 2.5 year old for a few minutes, she finally says "Your driving me nuts Mom!"

On a cuter note (at least for me), here a picture of her popping bubbles one day.

(Ty told me last night I had to fix my grammar, so here it is... all fixed.)

Ty's cured!!

Bet ya'll never knew he was sick did ya? Well I did. K, he's not really sick, but he's cured anyway. Joey is at the point in life where she loves babies. To the point it drives me nuts! I feel so bad for my babysitter who has a two month old. Joey just always wants to touch the baby and hold the baby, and feed the baby, and change the diaper. And if the baby is crying, well Joey is trying so hard to make her feel better that she'd just be in "Baby Amanda's" face shoving the pooty in her mouth to try to stop the crying. Although Ty wants one right now, I know that right now that I couldn't handle a baby and Joey being like that. Last night I convinced Ty how hard it would be. Our sitter has been in the hospital for 5 days now with an unknown infection that they can't get under control. (She was in the hospital when Amanda was born, Amanda was in the hospital with RSV for 5 days when she was 10 days old, our friend was in the hospital a week ago today for the day, and was admitted this time on Sunday) Her hubby has been trying to take care of all 4 kids, work, and he's the Elder's Quorum president. He hasn't been sleeping very well because the baby is up every few hours to eat. So I told them we would take the baby for a night so he could catch up on sleep. This poor baby has been passed between several different people since the mom was admitted, so she's on no schedule anymore and pretty fussy. For the first three hours last night, all the baby did was cry and fuss (from 7 pm to 10 pm). This fussing kept Joey up and crazy because Amanda was crying and she wanted to try to make the baby feel better. Once Amanda fell into a good sleep (somewhere close to midnight), she slept well. She woke up at 4 for her feeding, and was up until 5. Then although she was falling asleep, she was very very noisy about it and didn't really fall asleep until I brought her to bed with me. Then she quickly fell asleep until 8 am which was good. Ty woke up after a long, long night and told me that I cured him.

Handywoman I am

It's hot here. I mean today it's almost 110 outside!!! For about two weeks it has seemed that our swamp cooler is working less and less. I was happy when it cooled the house down to 76 at night. During the days it was getting up to almost 82 in the house. Not fun! I mean, not only is it hot, but when the heat is up like that, tempers are also up (usually mine and Joey's from being in the house all day together). Last night the cooler didn't even smell moist (it may sound weird, but you can smell the moisture in our cooler). So I went outside to take a look. Apparently the handyman forgot to turn the water back on to the cooler. Two weeks ago the spigot that goes to the cooler was leaking and he came and fixed it. Yesterday everything out there was bone dry. Within an hour of having water running back to it, the house cooled down almost 2 degrees. It was so nice! I don't know that I trust them with the cooler because every time after they come to "fix" it, my dad and I have to go out there and fix their fix, then fix the actual problem.

Bluilding something

Yes, I know I spelled that wrong, but that's how Joey pronouces what she does on the first Saturday of every month. Home Depot has a workshop where they have these little usually easy projects for your kids to "bluild something." So every time we drive by Home Depot, Joey yells "Home Depot!! Let's go bluild something!" Here is a picture of her in her little apron she gets... the pins on there are the pins she gets when she finishes "bluilding."

Joey is becoming a dark little girl! She usually loves to go outside and swim in her little pool. She also loves gardening. We don't have one for her to play in, but my mom does. She thinks Nana's garden is part hers. The other day she and Nana went out to check on the garden and see if anything is ready to be picked. Joey walked up and was looking and goes "Look, a big onion." My mom looked around and you could see the tips of some green onions, but nothing else. Finally Joey goes and opens the gate and runs to a plant and cradles this thing in her hands, and says "See, big onion." My mom goes over, and it was a fairly large bell pepper Joey found. Then today I was dropping her off at my sisters for a few minutes and couldn't get her to let go of me (she usually has no problem staying there, but I think she wanted to go with me to visit a friend in the hospital). So my sister was like, "We're going to have fried rice for lunch. It has eggs in it. You like eggs, don't you?" Joey says no. Then my sister was like "We have a slide out back. Do you want to go play on it?" Joey again says no. Finally my sister said "We have a garden outside. Do you want to go help me in the garden?" Joey gets all excited and says "Yeah!!" and runs off.

Not much else is going on with us. We took Joey to her first and last movie last night. At least for a while. We went to see Kungfoo Panda. We liked the movie, it's just that Joey didn't want to sit still. She just wanted to run around. Ty just got a new rear axle for his truck. Hopefully soon he'll find a front axle so that he can finish the registration. We also can tell you that one of the best indoor ant poisons is the liquid poison by Terro. We have had a major ant infestation and that has been the best for it so far. They aren't gone yet, but they sure have gone down in numbers.

Blah week

So this week has just been a blah week. It actually started out ok, but Wednesday it went blah. Ty got a 60 day extension on the budget. We kinda knew it was coming, but I was hoping it wouldn't really happen. It's good because it will give him more time to try to find money for the city, but bad because it has basically ruined our July vacation we had planned. I really need the vacation. We haven't even left the valley for anything in over 4 months and I'm feeling closed in. I need to get away. So now we don't know when we'll be able to have a vacation. We are hoping he'll get the budget done, and anticipate that it will be done, so we'll be able to go to Utah for Annie's wedding in August, but who knows with some of the changes that have been going on there.
On top of that, on Wednesday after I finished clinic with my dr, the supervising RN told me she needed to talk to me. Ok. So I went in to talk and got totally blind-sided. Apparently the dr didn't think it was working out with me. I had no clue. I've never been told to fix anything or correct it to try to make it better. That's what irritates me. I wasn't fired or anything, just moved to float and that's ok. I mean, she said I'll probably be called in two days a week or so (not including the vacations I'll be covering this summer) and two whole days a week and it's more hours than I would put in in a week with my dr. Today they had be shadow the nurses in OB so I knew how to work that office. Man, what a whirl-wind there!
In happier news, Joey has picked up a new phrase she always says. "That'd be great." She always says that. It's pretty funny. She also runs around regularly in these dress-up shoes that Nana Staheli got her for Christmas and this red fuzzy hat. She has a little backpack she then fills up with her toys and tells me that she's going shopping. She comes in every morning I'm putting on my makeup and asks for some for her. I didn't know I'd have a girly-girl.
