Car Saga continues

So a week ago I called our lawyers to see if they've heard back from VW about the car and what's going on since it had been almost 2 months. I couldn't talk to the lawyer because he was in a meeting, but the secretary got an earful from me. I kinda feel bad, but I was ticked. I found out that the suit hadn't been filed yet! For some reason it was just sitting around with no explanation for not being file. It was due to be filed the next day. So we just got confirmation today that it was filed. Now it will be another 30-60 days before we hear anything. I just want it over!

Memorial Day

So the only tradition we've ever really had is that our ward always has a pancake breakfast on Memorial Day. The worst part about it is the drive out there. For some reason they do the breakfast now 15 miles away in a park in Inyokern. Oh well. It was fun to go out there, and thankfully for the first time almost all week the weather was nice. I say that because all though a week ago I was saying that it was record breaking heat, by the end of the week it wasn't breaking 70 and we had rain and some hail. Other than that we just chilled. It was nice to relax!

Gas

So two weeks ago I had a gut feeling that that would be the last time for a very long time that I would fill up for under $4 a gallon. It was $3.97 (maybe $3.95, but it's not like it's that much of a difference). Anyway, it has stayed at $3.97 for almost two weeks, and we knew it would be going up soon. So yesterday we went out to run errands and knew before we headed home we would fill up. Well, by the time we made it to the gas station (like an hour later), gas had jumped to $4.05. At one station in town it $4.13. Diesel is between $4.95 and $5.05. GGGRRRR!!!!

HOT!!!

So Ty and Joey got to go swimming this past weekend for the first time this summer. Our friends have a pool and invited a bunch of people over to celebrate her birthday. That day wasn't the hottest day of the weekend and it got 105 or so. Yesterday it was 113 in the shade! I think it's a record high for this early. Normally we are hitting 105ish around the end of the month, not the beginning.

So I pretty much am now considered a high risk pregnancy. At least through the first trimester anyway. I had another miscarriage last week (hence me not swimming on Saturday). Add that to the complications I had with Joey and the fact that my nephews complications were never genetically tested so they don't know why he had cancer, they want to monitor any more pregnancies I have closely.

Ty is done with most of his budget meetings. These are the ones where he meets with department heads to discuss their budgets and the amount of money they are actually going to have. We are glad those are over! Some weren't pleasant.

That's about all that's new with us.

pictures as promised

This is Joey's Easter dress that Nana Ross made her
Joey put Ty down for a nap one day. Pooty, Ellly and Dora blanket. It was too cute, so I had to take the picture.

This is us and our friends the Workman's rolling easter eggs. Our version was see who's rolls farthest before it crumbles from the rocks... then throw the unbroken ones around the park.

Hair cut

So we took a picture of Joey yesterday in her easter dress (when she wore it on easter, she didn't quite get the concept of lifting her dress up to go potty, so she sat on it while she peed) and I was going to put it up here, but we can't find the camera cord. Actually, we just haven't really looked for it yet, but when we get to looking for it, I have some cute pictures to put on here.
Today was Joey's first hair cut ever! I really noticed yesterday when I was doing her hair for church how long it's getting. The longest part was too her waist! Of course that part was way damaged and looked scraggly, but still. At first we figured we'd take her somewhere and get it cut, but after her bath today I figured I'd just cut it straight across (about an inch and a half shorter than the longest part), and it'd be over. Then we wouldn't have to pay someone. So we got out the hair cutting scissors and I took the first little snip. It all went down hill from there. She wouldn't hold her head still at all (so my straight line isn't so straight) and now she's terrified of scissors near her head. She did not want her hair cut at all and was about to cry to Ty. It was quite frustrating for both of us. I have decided that I should have learned my lesson from the first hair cut I did on my brother Patrick, where I didn't blend the short and long very well, and it looked like he was missing a chunk of hair, and I will never cut hair again. Twice is enough for me to learn.

Aha!!!!

So I figured it out yesterday. I know why I love short hair, but hate having it. I love it because it's so cute and "flippy" (or at least that's what people tell me). I hate it because right now it's been w***y (the thing where the air blows around is a bad word out here, and everyone hates it if you say it because you're going to curse it). I mean, not a little breezy, but steady winds at about 35+ mph. For DAYS!! I don't like eating my hair, but it always seems like on days like the past couple with the air blowing like it has, I eat nothing but it. Also, it's hit 96 here already this year, and I hate turning on a blow dryer when it's already that hot. It's pretty bad that I have to wash my face after I blow dry my hair cuz I'm sweating like I've run a marathon. I hate that I have to blow dry my hair but as soon as I step outside, it's all messed up. Days like this just make me wish I could pull my hair back into a ponytail and be done with it. Or bic it off, but Ty says I'd look weird bald. So hopefully the next time someone tells me I need to cut my hair (yes, I am included in that someone), I'll remember that short hair isn't easier than long. In fact it's harder, hotter, and way more hassle out here.
