Post partum depression

Today I just feel like I need to say a little something about the seriousness of PPD. Some people do not understand it. They feel like you should be able to control everything about your emotions all the time. I honestly do not remember if I had it after Jordan or not. I also had multiple other things going on that were hard to deal with, so I can't pick out a cause. However, after Liam I had PPD. It was not that I was sad-depressed. In fact, I wasn't sad at all. I felt like I could not handle anything. The smallest thing would stress me out until I felt like I could blow if the kids sneezed on me wrong. I hated feeling that way, but could not do anything to change it. Thankfully for myself and my family, I got some help and am over that now. My emotions about this are completely on the surface today. I had a friend who could not handle things anymore yesterday and she took her life, leaving her two and a half month old daughter without her mommy or daddy. You see, she was having some pretty bad PPD after her daughter was born. Thankfully, from what I understand, she was being treated. However, just three weeks after their daughter was born, her husband died (young) of a massive heart attack. I know that once before, so tried to take her life, and was sent for treatment. I guess they couldn't help her enough. My heart breaks for her and her family. I cannot imagine how hard the last couple months must have been for her if this is all she felt she could do. The girl I knew her as, would not have given up this easily. Please, understand the seriousness of depression. It can completely change who you are until you do not recognize yourself, and turn to desperate measures. I am sorry if this post bums you out, but I feel I had to put this out there today. Maybe I can make a little more sense of this now. I hope.....

Holes everywhere!

So, many of you might not remember, but we had a HUGE palm tree in our front yard. It was probably 40 feet tall, and we called it "our high-rise, low-rent bird condo." Well, if you look it the post here we had it removed and that left a large stump. We had kind of planned to have the stump be a little table, but since it oozed sap and left the top sticky, that didn't work. We have a friend who runs a hardware store here in town and they have an excavator. So, he came to rip the stump out for us, and remove our other living palm tree (which we also hate) to sell. So we have some large holes because they weren't able to remove the stump because it is literally inches away from our water main. He has some other ideas to remove it, so we will see if it ever gets removed or not. Here are the pictures from our evening last Saturday. The trench in the next photo is our water main. The kids have enjoyed playing on the dirt mounds! The other palm tree coming down.

Another bathroom re-do

So I don't know if I ever posted pictures of our master bathroom complete gut and re-do. In fact, I'm pretty sure I didn't. I will have to find all the pictures later for you. Anyway, the door to our guest bath was broken. I mean, the door jam was literally broken to pieces. The bottom hinge would no longer stay in the frame and completely off everything, and with the weight of the door hanging only on the top hinge, it was just getting worse. So that meant we needed to replace the bathroom door. Well, I was on the phone last weekend when Ty decided to take the door out. Now, they guy I was on the phone with can out talk any woman I know, so I spent almost an hour on the phone with him with something that could have been discussed and finished in about 10 minutes. Well, since my phone call took so long, Ty decided to rip out the wall in our guest bath that contained a small, non-working pocket door. It is something we have discussed at length, but not something I was wanting to do until we were ready to re-do the guest bath. Well, I guess the time has come. LOL. So here are some pictures I took. They aren't completely "before" pictures because I was on the phone, but they are before the major demo. And the after pictures are to the point we are at now. I will keep updating the project pictures for you guys as we go. We do already have a new light fixture and new vanity for the bathroom, as that one was never finished on the side of the wall, we have picked out a new tub and surround, and a new toilet (but didn't get either of those because we don't have places to store them), and we are working on new tile.

Raised Garden Bed

So I decided that I needed to re-do my garden this year. Actually, I needed to do it. Last year, I just picked some random place and started putting the garden in. While it worked, I wanted something better this year. So, I started to make some raised garden beds. I actually have only done one so far, but I have planted peas in it already. I also decided to only do 3'x3' beds instead of longer ones. I kind of wanted to have more seperation from some of my plants. Jordan was manning the camera, and I think it died before she could take pictures of the final product, so I will have to upload them later.
