That's right. We are the Public Enemy of the Block No. 1. At least to the teenagers. The parent probably like our no illegal stuff allowed policy though. Here's what happened (at least from the story, this is how I know it to have happened). Ty and Joey fell asleep for maybe 5 minutes or so yesterday afternoon around 3pm when Ty wakes up to a "thud, thud, thud, thud, thud" sound. He got up and looked out the window and saw a bunch of kids around the mailbox (we have one of the community boxes that locks and has two package compartments). So he wanders outside by the trash and looks like he's going to throw something away. Remember, we don't trust the kids cuz they've already shot out two windows on our car. Anyway, when he hears the sound again, he goes out in the back yard and peaks through the fence to see what's going. The dumb kids were putting firecrackers in the package compartments in the mailbox and lighting them. Seeing as that is illegal, he did the first thing that came to his mind and called the cops on these kids. So the cops came and confiscated the fireworks and probably gave the kids a warning. Now they hate us, and yeah, we know they do because when we were in the house later, I could hear them yelling about their stupid neighbors. We did talk to the father of one of the kids and asked him what he wanted us to do if something like this happened again, and he told us to call the cops again cuz they have to learn it's illegal.
Now my question to you guys is, what would you have done? Would you have called the cops like we did, or wait until the parents got home from work and talked to them. Please answer cuz we really would like to know.
I think you did the right thing in calling the cops. Some things kids should be able to get away with but others they shouldn't. And that is one of those shouldn't things
ReplyDeleteI would for sure call the cops. They need to learn that there are rules and that they will get in trouble if they don't follow them.
ReplyDeleteOf course you guys did the right thing for calling the cops! For one, it's not their property, and two, they need to know that doing this kind of crap to other people's stuff has got to STOP!!! I can't beleive how these kids are acting! I never ever thought of distroying other people's things. if they happen to end up in jail; well, then that's their problem, not yours. Don't worry, you and Ty are doing the right thing. If you have time this week, give me a call. Love ya!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you guys totally did the right thing. That is crazy. Hopefully they will move or go to jail soon so you don't have to worry about them being around your stuff. I would be mad - especially about the car windows!
